Sound Development Norms

Our topic is sound development & ages of mastery in children...

We've all been there... hearing a child call the family canine a "doddy" instead of "doggy." Maybe you've heard a child ask to see your "wing" when he/she meant to say "ring." Or, my all-time personal favorite: hearing a child shout out a certain expletive that begins with "f" & ends with "k" when playing with a "truck!" 😜

For a while, many of these incorrect productions are totally normal! Children need time & TONS of practice to be able to produce speech clearly. The jaw, lips & tongue have to each move in incredibly refined movements to make this all possible.

So- when does something a child says go from being oh so cute (possibly even hilarious) to developmentally inappropriate (or not on-par with same-aged peers)?
